Whether you are just beginning to learn EFT or have been using it for a while, here are some Tap Into Freedom tips you may find helpful:

Keep doing the “Set-up” phrase every round as you’re starting out.

While there are EFT short-cuts that can be effective, don’t skimp on the Set-up phrase in the beginning. In my experience, as you’re learning you help the tapping be most effective when you use the Set-up phrase every round, and also:

Make the Set-up phrase as specific as you can.

It can be tempting to tap on a big problem all at once. That can work, but it can take much longer. It’s faster and more effective to break a problem down and get specific. For example:  if you’re feeling nervous about speaking in public, start with one thing that makes you feel most nervous, like maybe standing up in front of a group. Use the Set-up phrase to reflect this. Then the tapping will be even more effective if you can:

Be sure the Set-up phrase sounds right to you.

Use language that really hits the nail on the head. As you create the Set-up, instead of “nervousness about public speaking,” it could be more precise and powerful to say “When I stand up to speak they’re all staring at me.” When you can feel the Set-up in your body,  or when you just know you’ve got it right, use that wording and you’re likely to have better tapping results quickly.

Be aware a related “Core Issue” might come up.

You may have experienced a “Core Issue” popping up, seemingly out of nowhere. You might start with one problem,  like feeling nervous about public speaking. As the tapping lowers the anxiety of being stared at, suddenly you recall a time when you felt humiliated speaking in front of a class in 4th grade. Such connections are very common with EFT. (They regularly occur when we tap on a physical symptom.) As you tap on aspects of the Core issue, frequently it will become a memory that no longer holds intense emotion. Often, the original problem has been fully freed up as well, and public speaking with ease and confidence suddenly becomes a new reality.

Keep tapping!

Sometimes more complex or deep problems call for many rounds of EFT. We can get used to quick results – and they are frequent! – but at times we need to be persistent to feel a shift in a problem’ intensity. Don’t give up! Change the Set-up phrase if it’s not feeling quite right, and do several more rounds of EFT tapping to see results.
